The marine antifouling "core" plan is a domestic substitution plan for the core technologies of China's marine antifouling coatings. "Core" represents the core "core" antifoulant technology in marine antifouling paint products, and also refers to the "new" generation of "non-toxic butenolide antifoulant" technology.

The plan aims to invite leading enterprises in China's marine antifouling industry to demonstrate the application of a new generation of advanced technology at HKUST, promote participation in the development of domestic new non-toxic antifouling paint products by means of technology application authorization, create non-toxic new antifouling paint products with global influence, and transform the marine antifouling industry into environment-friendly products.

Adhere to the concept of "developing the marine economy, never at the cost of sacrificing the marine ecological environment", and effectively enhance the marine pollution prevention industry's awareness of marine ecological protection and social responsibility. Promote the sustainable development of China's and the world's oceans, including copper free marine antifouling coatings, non-toxic marine ranch mesh antifouling coatings, low toxic long-term static antifouling coatings, etc; Gather Hong Kong technology, industry leading enterprises, technical experts and other innovative elements to form an influential marine pollution prevention innovation ecological chain and industrial ecological environment.

The first marine anti pollution "core" plan in 2020 is sponsored by Ocean Science (Hong Kong) Limited (OSL Haike for short), supported by the EP Plan of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Institute of Marine Chemical Engineering, Haiwei New Materials, the Innovation and Technology Committee of Hong Kong Mainland Economic and Trade Association, Young Sustainable Impact China (YSI China) and other units.

Through the marine anti pollution "core" plan, the application of the new generation anti pollution technology of HKUST will be authorized to the cooperative enterprises participating in the plan. In addition, the marine antifouling "core" plan will provide a certain amount of new antifouling agent to the cooperative units that meet the plan for the participating enterprises to complete the product development stage. And reduce the cost of using technology for the cooperative units. When the demand for new antifouling agents increases and the supply is insufficient, the production capacity will be given priority to the cooperative enterprises participating in the plan.

The implementation process of the plan will take about one year. The sponsor or supporter will send invitations to relevant units in the industry. After filling in the application form, the sponsor will select and finally confirm the five units participating in the plan. The deadline for registration is July 10.
